Fun Run Prizes

There was great excitement today when the prizes that were earned by the students for gaining sponsorship for the Fun Run were distributed. A variety of interesting products were received including sport watches, balls, wallets, pillows and pens. It was a very successful fundraiser for the school as well as a challenging exercise for the students.

Pillows and Macrame

Kiarnan and Kaylee are very proud of their pillows. They chose their designs and cut and stitched onto the pillow covers. Madison and Emma made macrame leads for their animals and Rachel made a macrame pot plant holder.

Signs for the Pride Project

The student voice class representatives are working together to make a recycled garden at the end of Room One.  They have already painted the background and are now planning what to put in the garden.  They are hoping to get some recycled objects that will fit into their garden theme, like an old letterbox, a wheelbarrow and an old gate.  Darcie and Max wrote to Transit to see if they had any old road signs that would be suitable.  Last week the signs were delivered to school so they are all ready to fit into the garden.

Tanabata

On July 7th the Japanese celebrate the Festival of Stars. Paper wishes are hung from bamboo trees in honor of the occasion. We wrote our wishes on paper and hung them on the tree with some origami "Stairway to heaven" creations.

Unpackit

As part of the waste wise study we are involved in we have been looking at all the products nominated for the Unpackit awards 2012.  Our class looked at the good packaging and we promoted the products at assembly.  We have voted for the products we think should win.  We learnt a lot about why the products were nominated and also how some companies are thinking about how they can be more envirnmentally aware.  We look forward to seeing which products win.

Read every day in the month of May

We have been carrying out the "Read every Day" challenge for the month of May.  Students needed to read and record their reading each day to be in a lucky draw.  Rachel was the lucky reader in Room 5 and she received an Upstart magazine.  We all enjoy the Upstarts because they have lots of activities and fun articles to read as well as competitions to enter.  Well done Rachel.  Keep reading!!
