Earthquake Disaster

At 4.30 in the morning, a tragic natural disaster swept over the silent town of Christchurch. The Magnitude 7.1 earthquake destroyed a portion of the historic brick buildings, and terrorized the people of the town.

Concrete was soon turned to mud, and water supplies are becoming a major concern. The Ministry of Health says; “Boiling water for at least three minutes is compulsory, as we yet have to face the fixing of the sewage pipes, along with other damage.”

The fear of other aftershocks forced affected residents to sleep at the Christchurch hall until at least Wednesday. Flights out of the area have been cancelled due to fear of damage on the runway.

Repair costs are estimated at an amount of $2 billion dollars. Heavy rains are also expected to hit Christchurch at 6.30 am today. Railway lines are bent by the affect of the earthquake.

Technology

On the last 2 days of term rooms 4,5 and 6 did a Technology contest. We had to create an interesting but fun board game. We all were in a group of 5. I was with Rhys and Leah from room6 and Claire from room4. We all dicided to make a Kiwi one. The hardest part was making all the questions but overall it was all fun. I learnt lots and lots about the interesting Kiwi and I am sure my team mates did to. My team worked really well with each other and we all made a fun but interesting game about Kiwis. I hope we can do stuff like this in the future.
